Sharps Abbey ale 4.6%abv  Sharp’s new Christmas beer for 2010 is our interpretation of what medieval monks in Cornwall brewed to celebrate the festive season. Abbey Christmas is a lovely dark reddish brown colour and is full and bittersweet with a tart and hoppy finish.

Skinners Christmas Fairy 3.9% abv Light & crisp with a wonderful hoppy finish.

York Brewery Naughty Noelle 4.5% abv Copper coloured bitter with a lingering toffee finish.

Now the rush is over from the splendid weather we had last week I thought I would give you an insight into the current range of guest ales we have to offer, its National cask ale week as well so what better reason do you need to pop down and try out some of these:-

Wychwood Bountiful 4.0% abv Bring on the harvest season when the Earth’s bounties are shared. Celebrate with this ale of tremendous complexity delivering a rich fruity taste and a stack of chestnut colour.

Davenports (Highgate) Pheasant plucker 4.1%abv. A smooth well balanced copper coloured ale, brewed with pale crystal and wheat malts. Bitterness is provided using English grown Challenger and Fuggle hops

Hancock’s Counting Sheep 3.8%abv. This hoppy beer pulls no punches and the aroma gives up spicy, bitter and fuity notes that are balanced by a very subtle, malty sweetness. However the finish is crisp, dry and fruity making it very moreish.

Harviestoun Hoptober Fest 4.0%abv. http://www.harviestoun.com/ Made using fresh unkilned or “green” hops. The result is a unique flavour which can only be obtained during the hop harvest.

Back by popular demand St Austell Tribute

Tribute 4.2% abv A Supreme Champion Ale of Cornwall as voted by CAMRA*, and the South West’s Favourite cask beer**, Tribute is a popular favourite with locals and visitors to Cornwall, as well as being a much sought after brand throughout the rest of the UK. Hopback brewery: Crop Circle

A very clean, flaxen-coloured beer with wonderful thirst-quenching properties. The subtle blend of aroma and bittering hops give a crispness on the tongue which is delicately fruity, giving way to some dryness. The inclusion of flaked maize in the grist subtlely hints at crisp corn flavours.

Crop Circle has an ABV of  4.2%

Bays Brewery:

A strong golden beer with a fresh hop character. This ale has a smooth taste with a balanced sweetness throughout. Devonshire through and through!

Cast yourself adrift with this fruity and malty,red brown bittersweet beer. It has a serene caramel character and the finish is dry and fruity.

Rudgate brewery Jorvik Blonde 3.8% abv  A flaxen blonde ale with a balanced hoppy bitterness and crisp finish.

Brew Dog brewery Alpha Dog 4.55 abv A rock and roll medley of Summer fruit and pine gives way to hints of roasted malt and a heady hoppiness, but with very low bitterness.

Exmoor brewery  Silver stallion 4.35 abv A beer with a crisp and complex taste, malty with citrus and spice overtones, using four English hops and a blend of pale and chocolate malts- a true thoroughbred.

Skipton brewery Golden pippin 3.9% abv A light refreshing blonde ale brewed using a new variety of hop creating a citrus fruit flavour.

We have chosen a variety of lighter summer ales in the hope that summer will return and we will be blessed with warm summer evenings for you to come out and enjoy a few refreshing ales . We are also working on a new selection of bottled ciders more details to follow soon.

Unusual name, unusual beer! The “Waggle Dance” is the movement a bee performs to alert the hive to a source of nectar. Wells Waggle Dance Beer is a beautifully balanced, sneakily seductive, golden coloured beer.

Pale ale, Crystal malts, British Fuggle and Golding hops, together with Fair Trade South American honey, combine perfectly to create this delicious golden beer with a superb honey aroma.

And as we have a liking for all things Cornish at the moment we have also manage to obtain supplies of St Austell’s Tinners which was very well received  earlier this year.

Daleside Spring Frenzy 3.4% ABV

The brewery is situated in Harrogate, the Victorian spa town famous for its healing waters, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Daleside Brewery was established in the mid-1980s and moved to the present larger premises in 1992. In 1995 and 1999 further premises expansions took place and in June 2000 brewing was halted whilst new equipment was installed and the whole brewery re-organised.  Craig Witty joined the Company in 1991 and is now Head Brewer at Daleside Brewery. Daleside‘s beers, both real cask ales and premium-bottled beers, have achieved wide recognition repeatedly winning local, regional, national and international awards. Eric Lucas joined the Company in 1993 and is now the Managing Director. Daleside supplies cask ales to the free trade in the UK and bottled beers to all the leading UK supermarkets.
