Ploughman's at the Charles Dickens pub

General Menu

For lunch times we always offer a selection of ploughman’s featuring local and not so local English cheeses. For evening and lunch times we have home cooked gammon ham with fresh eggs and freshly cooked chips. Firm favourites like scampi and plaice  and a selection of dishes with a slightly more mediterranean flavour.

A favourite dish of many customers is our Spanish chicken casserole; chicken cooked with onions, leeks, celery, fresh thyme, wine and lots of tomatoes and purple spanish garlic, finished with fresh parsley and served with warm crusty bread, & olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip.

Other firm favourites include the famous Dickens burger (home made), rump, Sirloin and Rib-eye steaks, various salads including Greek and salad niçoise and jacket potatoes.

Please check for regular specials; previous specials have been lamb shank, swordfish, tuna steak, soups and pheasant, amongst others.

Sunday Roast – Great value at £10.95 for two courses

We always offer prime English beef and at least one other meat, plus a nut roast for vegetarian customers. We use fresh seasonal vegetables and homemade Yorkshire puddings. Reservations are strongly advised as our Sunday lunches are very popular.

Buffets and Parties all budgets catered for

Planning a special occasion? We can provide buffets and custom menus for parties either in a reserved area in the main pub, garden or in our function room. Please contact us to discuss the options and to make a booking. We anticipate our new second floor meeting room/private dining room being available for use from late September 2009.
